University of Turin<\/h2>\n

Department of Medical Sciences and Laboratory of Experimental Pathology at Candiolo Cancer Institute (UNITO)<\/span><\/p>\n

The Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Turin includes several specialties including Oncology and Research Laboratories are located at different Institutions. The research described in the project will be carried out at the Experimental Molecular Pathology laboratory of FPO-IRCCS Candiolo Cancer Institute, a Comprehensive Cancer Centre that is member of the OECI (Organization of European Cancer Institutes). The Experimental Molecular Pathology laboratory is connected with the Diagnostic Pathology Unit, which is under the supervision of Prof. Marchi\u00f2 and includes all the facilities for histopathology, automated immunohistochemistry, micro dissection with stereomicroscopes, slide scanning, cytogenetic analysis, NanoString technology, thus ensuring the complete workflow of analyses included in the present project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Role<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Experimental Molecular Pathology laboratory will play a crucial role in the project since it will represent one of the two Central Labs for Prosigna testing on tissue specimens, which is needed to characterise and randomise patients within the trial. <\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Caterina Marchi\u00f2<\/h3>\n

Prof. Caterina Marchi\u00f2 is Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Turin and she is an experimental pathologist leading the Experimental Molecular Pathology Laboratory at the FPO-IRCCS Candiolo Cancer Institute. Prof. Marchi\u00f2 serves as referral breast pathologist at the Pathology Unit of Candiolo Cancer Institute, where she is also responsible for Molecular Diagnostics.<\/p>\n

Prof. Marchi\u00f2 is devoted to deconvolute the complexity of pathology to foster precision medicine. The main focus of her laboratory is the molecular profiling of tumoral lesions across tissue samples, with a specific interest in breast cancer (including tumors, pre-invasive lesions and normal counterparts), with the final aim to design and select effective therapies and curtail treatment resistance. The lab is also actively involved in the standardisation of preanalytical conditions of tissue sample management and processing to guarantee quality of DNA, RNA and antigens.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Enrico Berrino<\/h3>\n

Dr. Berrino is a molecular Biologist with strong experience on high throughput molecular analyses n FFPE tissue specimens, in particular in the breast cancer field. <\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sara Erika Bellomo<\/h3>\n

Dr. Bellomo is a Bioinformatician with solid experience on transcriptomic analysis of breast carcinomas. <\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anita Chesta<\/h3>\n
